When trash becomes treasure

Earring stock made from a broken skateboard

Although I did stumble into repurposing old or broken sports equipment it has become a passion. I was once asked to sell my hand made items at a National Woman's Youth Hockey Tournament in Vermont. The organizer had several vendors but none that created products made in Vermont. After agreeing I ran into a old friend who I use to play street hockey with and the nex=t day I had an old goalie stick to make some products from. This started a year long discovery of new materials with great stories to make my products from.

Who knew that a vintage tennis racket, old field hockey stick, the wooden head of a golf club or a broken skate board would be an interesting source of materials to create from.

The layered woods in a skate board or golf club can reveal a variety of looks based on how it is cut and shaped.

So be creative and search for materials you can repurpose when you create.
